This is the password you’ll need to lock your new drive. Make a note of the password in the Calculated Password field. On the bottom half of the screen, change the IDE Device to Physical Disk 1. Load up the EEPROM.BIN you saved back in part 1. Now you need to open the LiveInfo program.

Once you’re done backing up the drive shut down the PC and remove the drive.

Make sure you have at least 8Gb free on the drive you’re backing up to. You’ll be prompted for a file name to save to. Go to the Tools menu and back up your drive from here. It should say it detected an XBOX hard drive. Take out the boot floppy and boot into Windows. Part 3: Moving The Data From The Old Drive To The New Drive That means drive locking is now disabled, and you’re ready for the next step – backing up your original XBOX drive and putting the data on the new drive. You should now see a – under the E in SELFXV. The program should now say done and drop you back to the command prompt. Pick the correct drive and enter the same password as before. Now you need to prevent the drive from locking itself the next time it’s powered up. That means your drive is now unlocked and you can hit escape to leave the program (If you’re still seeing a + you’ve messed something up along the way and will need to make sure you wrote down the password correctly and entered it correctly). The + under the L in SELFXV should now be a. Type ATAPWD again and check out your XBOX drive now. Enter the password carefully, leaving out the spaces and 00’s towards the end as we said earlier. Now the program should ask you for a password. You’ll be prompted for the number of the drive you want to unlock, which will be number 3 in this case. Back at the command prompt, type HDUNLOCK. Hit escape to leave the program – we’re done with it for a little while. But you wrote down the password earlier, didn’t you? So we’re in business. Notice that the XBOX hard drive has more +’s than the drive in your PC? That means the drive is password protected. At the right hand side you’ll see SELFXV and some +’s and –‘s just below. Assuming you installed the XBOX hard drive as the secondary master, go down to the second drive in the list. When the program loads, you’ll see two drives. Once the command prompt comes up, type ATAPWD. You should now have two hard drives connected, each set to Master, and one on each IDE cable – NOTHING ELSE! Stick the boot floppy in and boot off it. Connect your original XBOX hard drive on the secondary IDE cable. Go to your PC and disconnect whatever drives are there apart from your C:\. If you ever want to put the drive back in your XBOX for some strange reason, the jumper (or jumpers) will need to be set to CS again, so you might want to make a note of where they were originally. The jumper will be set to Cable Select or CS when you take it out of the XBOX. You first of all need to take out the XBOX drive and change a jumper (or jumpers – depending on who made the drive) on it. Now for the fun part – you have to open your XBOX and PC up. Copy ATAPWD.EXE, HDLOCK.EXE, HDUNLOCK.EXE and HDDISABL.EXE onto it. Got that Windows 95/98/Me boot floppy handy? Good. Part 2: Unlocking The Original Hard Drive This is the password you’ll be using to unlock the original drive in the next part of the job. Open it in Notepad and write down or print out the numbers following HDDLockDisablePassword, leaving out the spaces and 00’s towards the end. The one we’re interested in just now is the HDDINFO.TXT file. Now FTP in to your XBOX and save these five files to somewhere safe on your PC.
